Music Notes Week 10

What an amazing group of students we have in KTCC this year!  We appreciate your flexibility and professionalism on Tuesday (Mrs. Froese's school was locked down, but everyone is ok).  The children did a fabulous job singing and the seniors appreciated your wonderful songs.

We hope that you continue singing over the break and you create some family memories.

We will see everyone back at the Henry Grube Centre on Tuesday January 6th

Music Notes Week 9

What a fun week!  Your children continue to make choir such an enjoyable experience for everyone.  Today the children learned a few new pieces, some of which they will share next week at the senior's home.

Thanks to all who helped make the silent auction a success from the bidders, to those who helped organize and make phone calls to the prize winners themselves.  We had a successful event!

Next week, we will meet at 3:45 at Kamloops Seniors Village in Aberdeen on Hugh Allan (just around the corner from Tim Hortons).  Children are asked to come in concert attire (please remember to carry your jazz shoes!) and we will have a shortened day.  Likely children will be ready to go around 4:30ish.
Parents you are welcome to stay during the concert, but we ask that you please move to the back of the room so that all of the residents have the prime viewing locations.  Thanks for your help with this!

This will be our final meeting (Dec 9) until January when things get kicked off again as the children prepare for festival.  We hope that you and your family enjoy some memorable times together over the next few weeks.

Sunday 30 November 2014

Wow! What a day yesterday!!
Please give your children an extra hug for me. They were truly amazing last all day. Calm, progressional, polite audience members and beautiful performers. All their hard work these past fews months sure paid off!
I'll see everyone on Tuesday for a final rehearsal before our concert at the seniors (there may be a few extra-ful songs to learn!) Please bring your binder as I will be collecting all the winter music back before break.

Enjoy your chilly Sunday,
Ms. Alpaugh

Music Notes Week 8

Another fabulous week spent with your children.  The concerts will be filled with your amazing singers.  Hopefully you have received a notice on Tuesday with updated information regarding the next few weeks. Please continue to practise with the Youtube clips found on the blog.

Thank you to all of the families that helped with putting away chairs and tables, bringing in silent auction items, and helping to organize the silent auction.

Saturday will be a busy day. I hope you've had a chance to check that your child's uniform fits well, if you have any questions or concerns please contact Jacquie jstrom@sd73.bc.ca
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately in concert attire

Girls: Hair in French braid, black tights, black skort, black jazz shoes, red KTCC shirt. No make up or jewelry please.

-Boys: Hair neatly combed, black jazz shoes, black socks, black dress pants (no jeans please), red KTCC shirt.

Please ensure that your child carries their jazz shoes into the concerts and puts them on at arrival.

The first concert is at Kamloops United Church 421 St Paul St. Please drop your child at 1 PM and take their belongings (boots and coats) with you. The children will be excused together at the intermission.

Our evening concert with the Kamloops Thompson Honour Choir is at the Calvary Community Church on Rogers Way in Aberdeen. Please arrive with your child at 5:45. They will have a chance to see and hear the space prior to the concert beginning. Again please take your child's belongings with you.

Also we will have our silent auction running on Saturday evening. The auction will be open prior to the concert and again following it. We are excited to announce some of the wonderful donations for many different items including: teeth whitening treatment, restaurants, movie tickets, craft basket, David's Tea, knitting, children's games and much more....

For those who ordered poinsettias and wreaths, they will be available on Tuesday for pick up at the Grube.

There are still Blazer tickets available - get yours soon. They make a fabulous Christmas gift. Vouchers are good for any home game that isn't a playoff. You just trade them in at the box office for a game.

Music Notes Week 7

It was a quick turn around since our last rehearsal, and it's amazing how much improvement was demonstrated today by your children.  Only one more practise before their debut together this year.  We are very excited for their first concert.  Please continue to practise the music with the clips posted on the website.

The children had the opportunity to rehearse with Ron Routledge today who will be singing Christmastime with the children.  It was wonderful for the children to experience an adult who loves to sing too!

To find the clips, click on the youtube link near the top of the screen.  Then you will find each song individually listed.  If you are having any trouble with the songs, please email Jacquie jstrom@sd73.bc.ca

The children have another sticker challenge to fulfill this week.  If they practise their songs on four days during the next week they will earn 2 stickers.

Thank you to all of the families that brought in donations for our silent auction.  We greatly appreciate all of the goodies that have been brought in so far.  We are looking forward to all of the wonderful donations on display at the evening concert on Nov 29.

Keep using your wonderful voices!

Music Notes Week 6

Thanks to all for coming out on Saturday for the special craft day.  Your children are continuing to improve and special events like this allow them to grow so much in one day!  There's a sticker challenge happening until Tuesday, which your child already knows about.  For each day that they practise their music with the recordings posted online they will earn a sticker.  Stickers are eligible for Saturday, Sunday and Monday!  An additional sticker can be earned if your child is able to draw all of the correct gifts as Mrs. Froese did for them on Saturday.

This Tuesday we will be meeting at the Alliance Church located across the street (Fortune Dr) from the Henry Grube Centre.  We will still get going at 3:45.

Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped out on Saturday with bingo, Christmas card creations and uniform sizing.  If you can please check to see if your child's uniform fits them.  If you have any issues please let Jacquie know ASAP so we can make adjustments.

In case you missed out on poinsettias and wreaths on Saturday, your last chance to order is Tuesday!  Poinsettias are 6.5" and are available in red, white or pink.  They are $12 each.  Wreaths are 22" and come with bows and berries.  They are available for $25 each.

Blazer ticket vouchers are also still available for $12 each.  These vouchers are good for any home game that is not a playoff.  There are still many games to choose from!

Silent auction items are still being accepted.  Thanks to those who have brought something in.

See you Tuesday at the Alliance Church!

Music Notes Week 5

Thank you to all for another week full of improvements and children passionate about singing!  Jennica has uploaded some additional recordings for the children to listen to each day and continue practising and working on their memorization.  This is critical for the choir to be ready for the concert in just a few short rehearsals!

Great work on memorizing Christmas Fir this past week!

Thanks to the families who helped with chairs this past week, and to those who brought in silent auction items.  Please keep on bringing in items - they are greatly appreciated!

Our next rehearsal is Saturday November 15 at Beattie School of the Arts (next Tuesday is Remembrance Day) beginning at 9 AM.  Please park at Safeway and walk your child down, as municipal voting is occurring at the same time.  Students  will enter close to the portables.

On craft day Jacquie will be selling poinsettias and wreaths as a one day only fundraiser.  All money raised stays with our choir.  Wreaths are 22” and come complete with berries and bows and are $25 each; Poinsettias are 6.5” and are available in red, pink or white for $12 each.  Poinsettias and wreaths will be available for pick up on Tuesday December 2

Blazer ticket vouchers are also still available for $12 and are good for any regular home game - still lots to choose from!

Saturday 1 November 2014

Donations Needed!

As we get closer to our silent auction (formerly loonie auction) date we are in desperate need of more donations.  Currently we do not have enough donations to run a silent auction.  If each family could please talk to a couple of businesses and get a couple of donations it ensures that the choir has enough funding for the year.  Our main goal for the fundraiser is to be able to purchase new uniforms for the choir.  However, in addition to that we require funding for concert venues (we love to hear the children sing!) as well as having the children's transportation covered for school tours that occur in the spring.

If you need a copy of the letter please email Jacquie jstrom@sd73.bc.ca to receive a digital copy

Alternatively, I will have some copies available on Tuesday on the table outside of the rehearsal room.

Thank you in advance for your help in ensuring Kamloops Thompson Children's Choir continues to be successful

Music Notes week 4

Another great week in choir!  Thank you for your support in having your children participate in choir.   It's hard to believe that the first concert is only a month away.  To help your child continue to improve between choir practises, a few minutes spent each day practising a piece of music would be beneficial.  Ms. Alpaugh has issued a sticker challenger to each choir member - to earn the sticker for next week your child needs to memorize the Christmas Fir.

Thank you to those who helped with chairs today!  We appreciate it!

There are still a few outstanding fees for choir.  If you could please make arrangements with Jacquie to pay this as soon as possible so we are able to hand out uniforms in two short weeks!

As colds and flu start going around, we recognize that your child is not always able to be at choir.  If your child is going to miss choir, please send Jacquie an email at jstrom@sd73.bc.ca  to give us a heads up.  Thank you!

Fundraisers - we have a few projects on the go right now.  We are looking for some more support on each of our fundraisers.  Silent auction items are still needed to ensure we have a successful event.  Please head to a couple of local businesses to see what they might be willing to donate.  If you need a copy of the letter, please email Jacquie jstrom@sd73.bc.ca and she can send it to you.

Blazer vouchers are available each week from Jacquie in the lobby area.  The vouchers sell for $12 and are good for any home game that is not a playoff.  These make fabulous gifts for Christmas as they are flexible on the dates you attend.  Generally the seats are located on the corners of the rink - so you still get the full hockey experience!

Finally, next week your children will be given information for selling poinsettias and wreaths in time for the holiday season.  Please watch for it in your child's choir binder!

Monday 27 October 2014

Happy Monday!
Just a reminder to bring your Silent Auction items to choir on Tuesday. If you are wondering what to bring, an item for a movie or games night basket would be appreciated.
See you tomorrow!

Jennica

Music Notes Week 3

Happy Tuesday!
Thank you for sharing your children with me this week. They truly are wonderful to work with. I am teaching them a lot of music very quickly. If you have time in your week, quickly reviewing words or melodies will be very beneficial. Just a reminder that our Craft/Uniform/Pizza/Rehearsal morning is quickly approaching (November 15). This morning rehearsal will be very important to ensure we are ready for our concerts at the end of november.  We will also be handing out uniforms on this day.
Jacquie will continue to collect silent auction items this month and will also be selling Blazers tickets.

A big thank you to my amazing chair crew today!!
Have a wonderful week, see you next Tuesday!

Blazer Ticket Vouchers

With the holidays rapidly approaching and the search is on for that perfect gift - we have decided to sell Blazer Voucher tickets.  The vouchers are good for any regular season home game for the Blazers and are available for purchase from Jacquie for $12 beginning on Tuesday.  Money raised will stay with the Kamloops Thompson Children's Choir to help with purchasing new uniforms.  Thanks for your support!

Wednesday 15 October 2014

Music Notes Week 2

It's only the second week and it's amazing how much your children have improved.  Clearly, they have been working hard and they have been busy practising at home.  Your children are amazing!

Thanks to those families who helped out with putting the chairs and tables back together.  Your help is greatly appreciated!

Also a big thank you to those families who have already started collecting donations for our silent auction in November.  Jacquie can collect these donations from you on Tuesday.  Just remember she usually arrives closer to 4 (as she commutes from Chase), but is there after choir too!

We've received back most of the registration packages.  Thank you for those who have that complete!  If you haven't had a chance to take care of that, please drop that off as soon as possible.

Thanks for your ongoing support in music!

Tuesday 7 October 2014

Wow! What a fabulous first day!

Thanks to all of the parents, grandparents and other adults who came to the parent meeting today.  We appreciate your efforts in bringing your child to choir, and allowing them to enjoy singing with other students who love to sing!  Your efforts and the efforts of your child are greatly appreciated.

Thank you to those families who helped to reset the rehearsal room today after choir.

If you still have your registration form, please return it next week to Jacquie.  Otherwise if you were missing any information ( Care Card number) please bring that information next week, and we will get your registration completed.

Please remember to bring a water bottle and binder with a pencil to choir next week.

We are excited to have your child singing with us this year!

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to volunteer with a project feel free to let Jacquie know at jstrom@sd73.bc.ca
