What about Covid—19? The Choir team is dedicated to the safety and health of all children. Even if we can’t sing together, we can still learn and team build in a safe way. We will proceed as best we can, under the direction of the School District and Provincial Health authority.

Can I sign up next year once? No, your child will have to go through the audition process again if they decide to rejoin next year. This year they are grandfathered in as they are already a part of the choir, but this expires Friday.

What if my child has friends that also want to join? That’s great! Auditions are open this year to anyone who wants to joins! All they need to do is complete the online first round audition application.

Saturday 13 June 2020

Dear current choir families,

Thank you for your flexibility in this unanticipated end of our Choir season!  While the province looks at loosening Covid restrictions, we are putting a plan in place to resume our district Choirs once we are able.  While we will certainly ensure that we meet health, safety, and social distance guidelines, we are so eager for the time to come when we can sing together again!

To wrap up our 2019/2020 Season we need to collect all uniforms. Please label a bag with your childs name and return your dress/shoes/dress pants/ shirts/ and music to the marked bin inside the main entrance at the Henry Grube Library starting Tuesday June 16th through to the 20th. It is extremely important that the choir receive these uniform pieces back this year. When you drop off your uniform pieces, there will be an envelope with your child’s name on it in the bin. This envelope contains their certificate for the year and their medal. Please do not enter the Henry Grube building if you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms. We are sad that we cannot have our usual year end concert and wrap up and we hope we can sing together again soon.

We are excited to share some news with you! The district choir programs are being connected for the upcoming 2020/2021 school year!  Ms. Alpaugh will be leading our district choir program. Mrs. Froese, Mrs. Olsen, Mrs. Bouw and Kerry are all part of the choir team for September! This new program will ensure that all students' love of music and singing is fostered, while also providing opportunities to sing with and learn from each other!
KTCC and KTHC will be joined into one choral program, while still allowing each age group to have specialized instruction at their developmental level.  KTCC members (grades 3 and 4) will rehearse from 3:30-4:30.  KTHC members (grade 5-8) will rehearse from 4:00-5:00. The groups will rehearse together from 4:00-4:30. We are excited about the opportunity to merge all of the students’ talents to showcase this wonderful district program!
If your child is excited about this program, and is passionate about sharing their love of choral music and singing with our new, reimagined choir, they are welcome to join us!
Students in good standing who are currently in grades 3, 4 and 5 with either previous choirs are welcome to continue on as part of the new choir program next year.  There will be no need to re-audition.   Students in grade 6 and 7 this year are welcome to apply for one of the limited Student Leadership Roles.

https://forms.gle/gRJUhYuftW99Y68x7

The opportunity to reserve your child’s spot in the new choir is open now until June 19.  After June 19 we will begin filling choir spots from the community.

        Musically yours,
        The District Choir Team

*Please note: start up dates for the fall schedule will be communicated as we receive more information from the district regarding Covid-19 protocols.

Hello KTCC,
Parents heres your info for festival!! this is a great oppurtuity for your children, festival participation can have a postitive lasting influence on the lives of our children for many years to come! (I have seen this with my own children)  Please remember we are a competition Choir and this is our equivalent to the semi finals in a athletic team,  Our choir is a team and each childs voice is needed to create the quality of tone that we work so hard to achieve.

Festival:  Please have your children at the Sagbrush for 3:45pm This monday March 2nd, you are invited to stay and watch the performance.  Please note the festival charges a minium donation of $2 to watch.  There is no photography or vidoes allowed, we ask everyone to be respectful of the festival and sagebrush rules. Including no food ro drinks
Pick up will be 5:15ish...we really have no control over the adjudicator and how long he will take so this is just our best guess.  Children will not be released until they tell either myself or Ms.Alphaugh that they see their parent in the pick up area.  Please be prepared to keep your childrens outdoor shoes and coats with you, we will have limited space available to us.

CHILDREN must be in full UNIFORM, with NO MAKEUP or  JEWLERY
Girls :purple dresses with sashes, black tights and dance shoes
hair in a braid and off face
Boys: Black pants socks and shoes, white shirt and tie with hair neatly combed and out of face

Look forward to seeing you all and hearing your beautiful children sing they are such a JOY to get to spend tiem with...thank you for sharing them with us! Any questions text (250) 682-0303 or email KTChildrensChoir@gmail.com
