April/May Newsletter

A bright pink newsletter was sent home with your child today.  Here is a copy for anyone who missed it.
For the Grade four students who are wanting to audition for KTHC next year we will hold a group audition on April 28 at 3:30.

April/May newsletter

It's amazing how quickly this year has gone and how much your children have grown together as a fantastic group of singers. We are in the final weeks of choir which includes rehearsals, school tours, final concert and a celebration day.

School tours - students will perform at four different schools within the school district to share their love of singing and spread the word about choir. Students will need to be at the Henry Grube Education Centre on Thursday April 30 and Friday May 1. Drop off is 8 am. Don’t forget to bring a good snack and a water bottle. Please have your child picked up by 12:00 noon as we need to be back at our respective schools for the afternoon to teach. Thanks for your understanding.  The children will need to come in concert attire -  black tights/skort for girls, pants for boys, red KTCC shirt, hair french braided, no make up or jewelry please.

Final concert - KTCC will run a technical rehearsal on Saturday May 2 at the Sagebrush Theatre at 1pm Please have your child come dressed in his/her uniform so we are able to take group photos this rehearsal/photo session will be compete at 2:30pm. Unfortunately parents are unable to sit in the theatre and watch during this rehearsal.
Please have your child back at the Sagebrush theatre at 6:00 for a 6:30 concert. The Sagebrush has plenty of seating so invite as many family and friends as you can!

Celebration day - To recognize all of our accomplishments as a choir we will be having a celebration day on Sunday May 3 at Beattie School of the Arts on McGill Rd at 1 pm. At this time we will have uniforms and music returned. Additionally we will share a small treat together. This will be our final meeting together.

Students who are in grade three are eligible to remain in KTCC for next year.
Students in grade four will have a group audition in April to be a part of Kamloops Thompson Honour Choir. This will be held on Tuesday April 28 at 3:30 at the Henry Grube Centre

Thank you to all of the families that made this year such a success. We appreciate all of your hard work in ensuring your child was able to attend rehearsals, concerts and special events. Additionally thanks to those who assisted us with fundraisers, craft days, and other events to ensure this year was fantastic.

Reminders

Tuesday: Change of location - we will meet at St. Andrew's Church on 6th Avenue just before 4 PM.  Parents - you are welcome to wait in the side rooms, but due to recording that day we just want the children in the Sanctuary.  Thanks for your understanding.

Blazer tickets - Currently our choir is on the hook for any unsold tickets and we want to blow these tickets out.  On Tuesday we will be selling them for $7 each.  That's 1/3 of the cost of a premium seat ticket.  There are still a few home games left!

Music Notes

The children have done such a wonderful job in the last couple of weeks - we are so impressed.  Thank you for ensuring they have been able to join us and be a part of the team in the last few extra concerts.

Tomorrow - Wednesday - Students will meet at the Sagebrush Theatre in proper concert attire for 10 AM.  When you arrive at the lobby, please look for Joanne (Justine's Mom).  The session should be over between 11:45 and 12:00 noon.  Please ensure that your child is picked up promptly at noon. You are welcome to stay and watch all of the groups perform.
If your child is being picked up from school by another parent, please write a note to your child's school to indicate that this parent or other adult has permission to pick up your child for this purpose, otherwise they will not release your child from the building.

VENUE CHANGE MARCH 10
Next week, we will be meeting at St. Andrew's on 6th Ave during our regular practise time so that the children are able to record their songs from festival as they have been recommended to the provincial level.  A notice did go home with your child today - apologies for the minimal notice.  This venue change is ONLY for KTCC.

Thank you for your continued support!

IMPORTANT KTCC VENUE CHANGE!!
